In my past I used to be an avid reader, but with the years I could find less and less time for it, until I had a couple of years with not a single book read (which does not mean I didn't read, but it was more blogs, and professional articles, and stuff). But I want to get back into reading more and reading for leasure as well as work, so here I am. I am currently working myself through a scratch poster I got, which lists the 99 Books You Must Read - I finished the first one (The Great Gatsby) and am half way throught the second one (1984). Besides those I am also working myself through some subscription boxes (which basically are my partners, but as she is also a keen reader and book collector, I adopted her "Evernight", "Starbright", "Owlcrate" and "Broken Binding SciFi" subs so she could with an easy conscience get even more of those subscription boxes :D ), and read myself thorugh Silver Nitrate, Last to Leave the Room (which I loved - my favorite book since picking up reading again), and The Invocations. And besides those I also have a pile of self-improvement books (I am also a bit obsessed with self-improvement), and technical literature for my trade or hobbies (like Kotlin in Action and 2 photography books that are still missing here), and of course language learning books (currently Genki I and Complete Spanish Step-by-Step).
My favorite leisure reading genres are fantasy, horror and sci-fi (who might have guessed?), my favorite authors being J.R.R. Tolkien, J.K. Rowling, Max Frisch and Franz Kafka, and my favorite books Narn i Chîn Húrin, The Silmarillion, Le crépuscule des elfes, La nuit des elfes, L'heure des elfes, Homo Faber, Das Parfum, Veronika Decides to Die, and The Green Mile, to name a few. But then again most of my favorite books are from more than a decade ago, not sure if they'd still be able to hold their ground today. Let's find out together, shall we?
